a review of our EP

we wanna appreciate nick for his effort.. check out his other reviews here

Title: 'Fingerpointing'
Artist: Surreal
Label: Wake Me Up Music
Year: 2005
Website: www.myspace.com/surrealsingapore, www.wakemeupmusic.com

Surreal comprises of a band of somewhat veterans in the local music scene who are bonded by a Christian kinship. In the past recent years, you would have caught them playing in all sorts of venues...including clubs or smaller shows, to bigger outdoor events like Baybeats at The Esplanade (which they have become a household name with). I even heard they played on a cruise-ship, but I don't know how much truth there is to that. If you have seen them live, you'd then agree that their seasoned musicship shows in their incredibly tight, energetic sets.

This release is their long awaited debut, 5-song EP. Self-declared on their website as 'passionate and heartfelt', this band delivers strong infectious melodies with catchy choruses and creative inter-guitar playing. The main message of the band is very evident; and that is their spiritual faith. As stated in the sleevenotes, one of the songs titled 'Hold Me' is even directly inspired by Psalms; one of the books from the Bible. Whether you agree with their message or not should not be the focus here, but rather let their good songcraftship give you a chance to be impressed. This is for the emo-kid that still knows how to rock it.
